We first saw PCI-Express 4.0 NVMe solid state drives back in 2019 when AMD launched their X570 motherboards. Samsung seemed to be a little late to the Gen4 party as we've seen plenty of Gen4 drives launched over the past year and a half. Today we are chec...

Last year, we reviewed one of Samsung’s latest 980 PRO M.2 NVMe Gen4 SSD. It was only a 500GB capacity, so the performance was not that stellar. Today, we check out the 980 PRO 2TB capacity, offering slightly faster read and write speeds. In fact, I was waiting for this 2TB version so that I can compare it with WD’s latest Gen4 SSD with the same capacity. Which one do you think will be the fastest Gen4 SSD? Will it be the Samsung 980 PRO or the WD Black SN850? Find out in our Samsung 980 Pro 2TB review/comparison below.

About a month ago, Samsung released their latest, fastest, and new flagship storage solution – the Samsung 980 Pro SSD. The 980 Pro features Samsung’s latest 3-bit MLC V-NAND and new PCIe 4.0 Elpis controller and is the company’s first NVMe Gen4 SSD. They’re late to the Gen4 SSD party, but I’ll tell you later why they opted not to join the early Gen4 SSD bandwagon. The 980 Pro features speeds of up to 7,000MB/s, so is it (really) that better compared to 1st gen Gen4 SSDs? Should you buy one? Let’s find out in our Samsung 980 Pro review below.
